Staff helpful & friendly; rooms generously sized and clean. On site (free) parking.
Lack of air conditioning - rooms were very hot; noise (people & dogs) from surrounding area till early hours disturbed our sleep. Lack of facilities - no opportunity to get food or hot drinks on site other than at breakfast.
Reasonable location for city centre with easy free parking. Very quiet when we stayed, which was ideal.
Very pleasant grounds to read or relax in.Helpful staff and good breakfast menue
Distance from town centre,
Free parking (lots of it) in a busy city. Convenience for the ferry to uk. Relatively easy to find in a traffic-confusing city. Within walking distance to the shops and city centre bars and eateries.
Being a school, the bedroom was quite basic (wooden floors, for example) and we had to remind ourselves that this was a city-centre location, at a popular and bustling seaside resort in the summer, when comparing the price for the night with our stay in central Spain the night before at a 4-star hotel (which was much cheaper).
Edificio y habitaciones bonitas, limpias.
We arrived after a two day boat trip from England, armed with a google map we found the hotel straight away, parking which we had been forwarned was not at the hotel but we found parking easliy on the street in front of the hotel. The room was cool and airy, the temperature in Santander being around 30c, bathroom facilities were clean, with all the stuff you expect from a 3 star hotel - excellent! Comfy beds, passed a quiet night even though it was in a built up area. Breakfast was self service - choice was unlimited fruit juices, cereals, toast, rolls, savoury, coffee, tea as good as if not better than some 4 star hotels in Great Britain. The staff were courteous and helpful, could not be bettered. Stayed in a parador later on in the trip - room was bigger but facilities on a par - thank you Jackie Morris
A quaint hotel in a very nice garden setting. The hotel is not large and was very friendly. We did not eat at the hotel as it was in July when the students are on holiday and the restaurent was closed. The receptionist recommended a restaurant 2 minutes away which was excellent.
There are no signs to direct you to the hotel and there is only a narrow gateway in a high wall as access from the main road. However it is worth the effort to find it
Spacious room with large windows opening on to large terrace and lovely gardens. Good views over the hills. Rooms at the back of the hotel very quiet. Large modern bathroom. Very large free parking area which was being refurbished at the time of our stay. Quite a long walk downhill to the city centre but convenient bus service adjacent to the hotel.
This is a hospitality training school but we found staff standards very lax. Students very pleasant but not professional. No atmosphere of hotel nor of restaurant. The restaurant was a very basic room with basic furnishings. Breakfast was ample but uninteresting and there were no cooked dishes. There seemed to be good numbers of the public coming for lunch which was cheaper than the evening meal. We had opted for the " gourmet tasting menu" in the evening. On our first night we were the only clients so we cancelled not wishing to eat alone. On our second night there were several other people but service did not start until 9.30pm and as we were the only people there we spent time in the bar where we had a glass of very mediocre cava and felt like intruders. No nibbles were provided with the drink, the only place in Spain where we have found this. The meal when it arrived was a most disappointing experience in every way and at 30 euros was very poor value. The house Rioja wine was also poor. We have a local hospitality training school where standards of cooking, presentation and staff training are very high making it a pleasurable experience to eat there. Las Carolinas has a lot of work to do to raise their standards to an professional level. We would certainly recommend the accommodation but not the restaurant.
Location to city centre good, buffet breakfast good.
It was like a construction site when we arrived, informed by email on arrival, not access for car or parking, had to drive around Santander for1/2hr to find parking place. No assistance with luggage across rough hardcore driveway. Noise from party below hotel room & other residents from room above unable to sleep, had to complain.
Attractive, interesting building &location.Good-sized rooms;clean, functional but comfortable.Friendly helpful&well trained staff. It is a training hotel for catering & tourism students,so when the restaurant is open (only term time,¬ weekends) the meals are first class & great value.Free good parking. In sum:a great value hotel.
Hotel Escuela Las Carolinas is an excellent hotel set in a wonderful location. It is a 10 minute walk to the city yet tranquil and in beautiful landscaped gardens. The breakfast was delicious each morning with an ample selection of food to choose from and all the staff were extremely friendly, professional and helpful. The room itself was perfect- flat screen tv, bath & powerful shower and ample space. It is a top quality hotel at a very affordable price. I loved the hotel and my time in Santander.
Location for access to ferry together with parking facility on site. The Hotel was well appointed and was very clean and tidy. Bedroom was excellent with comfortable bed and good bathroom facility. Breakfast was good and well presented.
Restriction of evening meal on Wednesday was disappointing.
Plenty of parking, although pretty full when arrived which was difficult with trailer, receptionist quickly sorted out the problem in a friendly efficient manner. Nice building, location was fine, breakfast very good. Nice to sit on balcony. Would go again.
Good value. Staff friendly and helpful.Pleasant and spacious room. Good and easy parking.
Not easy to find by the instructions given.Dinner available on Thurs. & Fri.,but not served until 9-30. Similarly, breakfast began at 8-30.Late for those on an early ferry.
